Kitchen fitting costs in Watford: what your quote should include

Kitchen fitting is priced around your layout, preparation, worktops and trades. See what a Watford fitting quote should include and how to compare the work.

Kitchen fitting costs depend on the work behind the cabinet doors as much as the number of units. A useful quote for a Watford kitchen should separate the installation from removal, preparation, worktops and any plumbing or electrical work. Matthew 633 quotes for the actual room and agreed scope. We do not publish a fixed fitting price.

A room with sound walls, services in the right places and a complete delivery is a different job from a room with damaged plaster, a moved sink and a new tiled floor. Comparing only the total can hide that difference.

What are you paying to have fitted?

Start with the supplier’s final plan and item list. Include the cabinet range, number of units, tall housings, panels, plinths and appliances. Tell the fitter whether the cabinets arrive assembled or flat-packed. Both the product and the room affect the work involved.

Ask for the quotation to describe the finish you expect. Decorative panels, fillers, handles and adjustments take work too. A line that simply says “fit kitchen” leaves too much open to interpretation.

Part of the job What to confirm in the quotation
Old kitchen Removal, disposal and who arranges waste collection
Room preparation Wall repairs, floor preparation and any work before cabinets go in
Cabinet fitting Assembly, installation, finishing panels and door adjustments
Worktops Material, supply, fitting, cut-outs and any separate template visit
Services Who handles plumbing, electrics and any gas work
Finishing Tiling, splashbacks, decoration and the final snagging visit

Which choices change the fitting cost?

Changing the layout usually changes more than the position of the cabinets. Moving a sink, adding an island or changing an appliance can affect the work that other trades need to do. Point these changes out before accepting a quote.

The worktop also matters. Ask whether a specialist supplier will measure and fit it, and whether that cost sits inside the kitchen fitter’s quotation or in a separate order. Our quartz templating guide explains the questions to settle early.

Access belongs in the conversation. A first-floor flat, limited parking, stairs or little space to store the delivery may affect the arrangements. Send that information with your postcode. It is better to plan for it than discover it on delivery day.

How do you compare two quotations fairly?

Give both installers the same plan, photographs and written brief. Then compare what each has included, what each has excluded and what still needs a decision. Ask whether the quoted total includes any applicable VAT, materials and waste removal.

Do not assume the lower figure covers the same job. Equally, a higher figure needs an explanation. A clear scope makes that conversation easier. Use our quote checklist to record answers alongside each quotation.

Ask how changes will be priced if hidden damage appears after the old kitchen comes out. Agree how you will approve extra work before it starts. Keep a copy of the quotation, the current plan and any later changes together.

Can you get a quote before ordering the kitchen?

Yes. You can discuss a provisional plan with Dan before placing an order. A draft layout is useful for an early conversation, but changes to that layout can change the work and price. Send the final version before confirming the installation scope.

If you already have a delivery date, share it. Delivery and fitting availability need to work together. A kitchen being ready to arrive does not by itself mean the room or the installation team is ready.

What should you send to Matthew 633?

Send your postcode, the supplier’s plan and a few photographs showing each wall of the existing kitchen. Add your preferred dates, worktop choice and a note about anything being moved, removed or replaced.

If you do not have plans yet, say what you want to change. We also offer free kitchen design. For a fitting quotation, contact Dan and we can discuss your room, the work involved and the next steps. The quotation is free and there is no obligation to book.
